East Hill Cemetery, Bristol Tennessee / Virginia
James Keeling Camp 52 SCV, I quess you can put it, we have adopted East Hill Cemetery as our pet project. Each May on Saturday before Memorial Day we help with a Memorial Service for 102 unknown Confederate soildiers and over 200 known Confederate soildiers. In the year 2005 we errected a flag pole and dedicated a Confederate First National that now flys 24/7 above the unknown graves.
In a ongoing project we have errected a monument for all of the Confederate soildiers buried here. We are now in the process of raising funds for the plauqes. This project is a big project for a small camp, but we all have agreed this is to important, it must be completed. We can report that work is going on as we speak. We have had help from many different people and business in the area. We still have alot of work to do and money to raise to see this project reach its final stage. If you would like to help in this project please feel free to notify us on the contact page. All help and donations are appreciated and very helpful to our goal.
The first week-end in November the hills of East-Tennessee will roll with the sound of men coming to battle. James Keeling Camp 52 SCV is pleased to co-host the War Between the States re-enactment for the fourth year now. Skirmish at Zollicoffer, ( Bluff City now) will be held just outside of Bluff City city limits on a beautiful farm owned by Mike & Sue Carrier of Bluff City. Please feel free to visit the web site and we look forward to see you there.
